Mercede’s Metamorphosis
Creative Boudoir Session - Winnipeg, MB-
For Mercede’s creative session our intention was to celebrate her motherhood and embrace the changes in her body. While planning a creative session I like to conceptualize a backstory for inspiration.
HER-Story; She is a woman who has experienced the greatest gift of becoming a mother but is left with a body she no longer recognizes. She learns to love her body through documenting the changes to her outward appearance and begins to blossom and glow through the process.
For our first set we documented Mercede’s postpartum body in black and white, focusing on highlighting rather then hiding her stretch marks and skin texture and natural curves. In our second set we showcased Mercede’s blossoming with a soft ethereal set that harmonized perfectly with her dewy skin. We accessorized with butterflies, flowy fabrics and pastel tones. And last but not least for our final set of the day we opted for a sensual and sultry boudoir set.

What inspired you to apply for the creative content call?Seeing all the wonderful images you took of so many other women in my circle and how amazing they said the experience was!
What story or message did you want to convey?That no matter what changes I go through in my life and how my body may change I am sexy !
Why was doing this important to you? What did this session mean or symbolize to you?It was important to me because I struggle with body dysmorphia and when my body changed so drastically after my baby my mental health took a real toll . This was my first photoshoot in over two year . It was very meaningful as it helped me over come some hard feelings I had about myself and even start metamorphosis that helped me find myself again as I'm sure I'm one of many new moms that find they just get so wrapped up in being a mom they forgot to take care of themselves
How did you feel before and during your session?I felt very nervous before hand, but you honestly you are so so kind you made me feel so comfortable like I had know you for years
What effect did this session have on your self love journey?It had a very amazing effect on my self love journey! I was able to really fall in love with myself for the first time in a long time .. I even started taking selfies again
What was your favourite part of the experience? My favorite part was the whole thing ( I know that's feels like a cop out) But from start to finish I loved it . I loved having a whole day about myself, getting pampered and having my makeup done! Wearing pretty things I don't normally get to wear and having a cheerleader who's hyping me up while taking some of the most stunning photos of myself I've ever seen!
What would you say to someone else nervous about booking a boudoir session or someone nervous about their body?Just freaking do it! Don't hold back!! Forget the fear ..Don't wait for you to lose the weight.. don't worry about what others will think or if your too old or whatever your reservations are about taking photos of yourself are ! Just take the pictures
How did you your images make you feel?Absolutely on top the world! Like a faery princess! I was in awe that they were actually me.. during the session I felt kinda silly in some poses as I'm really not used to posing in sexy ways or really viewing myself as sexy ( I'm used to hearing I'm pretty or cute but not sexy or gorgeous) so this really made me feel that
What was your biggest takeaway from this experience?That I'm normally very self deprecating and I need to be kinder to myself! I'm beautiful and have many great qualities. And that I can still be dainty and cute while still being sexy
Any final thoughts you would like to share with others about your session or experience?Lynn is one of the nicest, and least judgemental people you will meet! She will absolutely make you feel like a goddess!!!
